‘All The R’s’ (code name) reached out to me because she needed help for her autistic son.
She had gotten all the way to the Tribunal stage of his PIP journey and, after watching my YouTube videos, contacted me for more support.
We had a meeting together where she explained what their life was like, specifically how it was for her son to be living with autism. From that conversation we could discuss what I thought her son was entitled to and I believed it was a lot higher than she had first thought.
My strategy for ‘All The R’s’ was to focus on practicing for the Tribunal. Together, we prepared for each category in the Tribunal so that she was fully ready to answer any question clearly and concisely, in a manner that would enable her son to be categorised within the scoring system.
She spoke for her son during the Tribunal and was stunning. She did explain that there was one area where she felt they lost points due to something I call ‘PIP trickery’ where, towards the end of the Tribunal, she felt she agreed to something that was not accurate. Despite this, she WON her son’s PIP Claim and I could not be happier.
‘Elegant Lady’ (code name) was having a hard time completing her PIP review. She had originally received help from DWP to complete her PIP Review as she is dyslexic and therefore struggled to complete the forms herself. She reached out to Charlie’s Journey, devastated with what DWP had written. It lacked accuracy and it was clear that they did not care about her. I do not recommend that anyone ask DWP for help with their PIP forms as, once it is written down, they will not change it. We had a detailed conversation where, as a team, we identified that she was entitled to the enhanced rate in both categories. I read to form and completed it for her, we then checked it over together and submitted it. While waiting for her assessment, ‘Elegant Lady’ studied my YouTube videos religiously in preparation. She did the assessment on her own and WON. I felt so empowered hearing how she fought hard for herself, overcoming everything she had experienced in her life.
‘Future Politician’ (code name) had previously applied for PIP but was given 0 for Daily Living and Mobility. He reached out to Charlie’s Journey for help as he suffers with dyslexia and was unable to read and complete the forms himself.
We did an initial PIP Claim meeting where I identified he was 100% correct and he was entitled to PIP. During our conversation I was able to ask him questions that made him more aware of his situation, and we concluded that he was entitled to enhanced in Daily Living and Mobility. He was shocked by this and it made him quite emotional!
We completed his PIP Claim form, submitted it and did two private practice sessions to prepare for the assessment. He was awarded standard in Daily Living and enhanced in Mobility.
I encouraged him to do a Mandatory Reconsideration. He was scared but trusted me and he WON! His life, like everyone who has received PIP funding, has massively changed for the better. ‘Future Politician’ desperately wanted to stay employed in his job but before PIP this was becoming increasingly difficult as he struggled to afford the taxis to and from work. Due to his condition he could not take public transport or drive himself. His PIP funding now allows him to comfortable afford the taxi’s so he can continue to go to work.
